As countries continue to develop and deploy advanced technologies, including fusion facilities, small modular reactors, advanced accelerators and irradiators, as well as new medical applications of radiation, the conference will explore how radiation protection and safety supports innovation.
Participants will discuss GSR Part 3 through the lens of innovation to ensure expertise and capacity in radiation protection and safety, as well as approaches to building a robust safety culture across established and emerging stakeholder communities. They will also explore the use of artificial intelligence throughout the development and deployment of new technologies in compliance with GSR Part 3.
The conference will provide a platform for networking among regulators, radiation protection professionals, safety experts among developers, operators and users of new facilities and technologies involving ionizing radiation, and academics and researchers in the field of health physics and radiation protection.
Contributors interested in submitting a presentation or poster can find the topics of interest here. These include practical applications of dose limits and reference levels, concepts of exemption and clearance, good practices in optimization and the ALARA (as low as reasonably achievable) approach to dose evaluation, risk communication and stakeholder involvement, strengthening safety culture, and ensuring expertise and capacity in radiation protection for the future.
The conference will be held in cooperation with the European Commission, the International Labour Organization, the OECD Nuclear Energy Agency, the Pan American Health Organization, the United Nations Environment Programme and the World Health Organization, co-sponsors of GSR Part 3.
